25 UMPSA lecturers listed among the world’s top 2% scientists
PEKAN, 8 October 2025 - A total of 25 lecturers from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) were listed among the world’s top 2% scientists under the Single Year Achievement category, with 15 of them also listed under the Career-Long Achievement category.
For the Single Year Achievement list, UMPSA ranks among the top ten universities in Malaysia, with 25 lecturers making up the highest number of top 2% scientists.
This recognition refers to data released by Elsevier BV and Stanford University, based in the United States of America.
UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, said that this recognition is based on the Scopus database and covers comprehensive evaluation aspects.
“This recognition encourages interaction between local and international researchers as well as with the industry to continue academic excellence, in addition to creating research opportunities to address global challenges.
“Furthermore, it continues to strengthen the position of this university as the most advanced Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) hub in the ASEAN region, built upon academic excellence, global networking, and the capability to produce high-quality graduates.
“It also aligns with the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2021–2025 and the UMPSA2030 Framework, which positions the university to continue achieving excellence in academics and research under the theme ‘Technology for Society’,” she said.
She also congratulated the UMPSA community for achieving various successes in elevating the university’s image in the field of higher and global education.
In the Single Year Achievement category, nine researchers were listed under the subject of Energy, four under Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing, four under Materials, and four under Mechanical Engineering and Transport.
The remaining four were listed under Business and Management, Education, Environmental Sciences, and General Physics.
Researchers listed under both the Single Year Achievement and Career-Long Achievement categories are Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Fauri@Fauzi, Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Mahendran Samykano, Associate Professor Dr. Sudhakar Kumarasamy, Associate Professor Eur Ing. Ir. Ts. Dr. Norazlianie Sazali, Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Kumaran Kadirgama, Professor Dr. Jose Rajan, Associate Professor Dr. Ramadhansyah Putra Jaya, Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zularisam Ab Wahid, Professor Dr. Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah, Professor Dr. Rizalman Mamat, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Herwan Sulaiman, Professor Ts. Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Associate Professor Dr. Ferda Ernawan, and Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Ashraf Ahmad.
Meanwhile, researchers listed under the Single Year Achievement category are Professor Dr. Yudi Fernando, Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Wan Sharuzi Wan Harun, Ts. Dr. Agi Augustine Aja, Ts. Dr. Ahmad Shahrizan Abdul Ghani, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Herma Dina Setiabudi, Professor Ts. Dr. Khairunisa Muthusamy, Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rashid Ab Hamid, Dr. Farah Amalina Ishak, Dr. Ahmad Shahir Jamaludin, and Ir. Dr. Erdiwansyah.
