45 UMP-BJTU JPA-sponsored students depart for China
SEPANG, 13 February 2023 - A total of 45 students of the Dual Degree Programme of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) China departed to China recently to continue their studies for two years there.
The engineering students in developing the country’s rail industry are pioneer students of the dual degree collaboration programme who will continue their studies at a leading university in Beijing after two and a half years of study at UMP.
The Semester 1 study session in China begins in February each year.
Of the 45 students, ten are in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme, 20 in Mechanical Engineering and 15 in Civil Engineering at BJTU.
According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, the growth of the manufacturing and industrial sectors in Malaysia today requires more experts and skills in various fields of technology.
“Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) is also seen to surge the country’s education system.
“UMP also appreciates the support of the Public Service Department (JPA) and Chinese Ambassador in Malaysia who contributed RMB100,000.00 or RM65,000 to UMP students via collaboration with universities from China.
“In addition, UMP also collaborates with universities in China including dual degree programmes with Tianjin University (TJU) and collaborative programmes with Ningxia University (NXU),” he said.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, who performs the functions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), was also present to meet with students and families.
He also delivered a message to the students through a briefing before departure.
“Take this opportunity to learn and dive into the thinking of the people there that they become a great country in the technology field,” he said.
He also wished them good luck and hoped the students could continue excelling in their studies.
Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Professor Dr. Mahadzhir Ishak@Muhammad, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Associate Professor Dr. Hamdan Daniyal, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Ir. Dr. Fadzil Mat Yahaya and Director of the Centre for Academic Strategic Cooperation, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Ruzaimi Mat Rejab.
In addition to China, UMP’s dual degree programmes in collaboration with German universities over the past 12 years with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) in Mechatronics, Automotive and Electrical Engineering have produced many competent graduates who have contributed to the country’s development.
“Meanwhile, the Business Engineering programme will commence with a new partner from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (HsMA).
