6 UMP subjects listed in QSWUR by Subject 2022, world-recognised

PEKAN, 6 April 2022 - Six Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) subjects are ranked among the world’s best based on the recently announced QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) by Subject 2022 rating.

Chemical Engineering subject is in the world’s top 150-200 and among the top five in Malaysia.

While the other four subjects are Engineering and Technology, ranked 357th best in the world, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Manufacturing (301-350), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (401-450) and Chemistry (451-500) are in the world’s best group and the tenth best in Malaysia.

This rating also saw Computer Science and Information Systems ranked in the top 601-650 in the world and ranked in the top 15 in Malaysia.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, as a technical university that is now 20 years old, UMP offers a wide range of technical programmes based on engineering and technology.

“UMP will strengthen its role in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) to execute the agenda for the empowerment of Technical and Vocational Training and Education (TVET) at all levels.

“The university is constantly adding value to academic programmes through a continuous benchmarking process using the world-class Fachhochschule model.

“The internationalisation of dual degree programmes is now thriving and gratifying as the graduate employability successfully surpasses 96 per cent,” he said.

He said the offering of the dual degree programmes for Bachelor of Automotive Engineering and a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering UMP with Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HKA) Germany, which is now entering its 12th year, has successfully expanded the international collaboration network.

“In further strengthening university ties with external parties, UMP will explore international collaboration with several countries, including China and Kazakhstan, and expand to the United States and other European countries.

“In the meantime, the QSWUR by Subjects 2022 assessment method is based on four indicators.
This year’s achievement showed Academic Peer Review and Employer Peer Review for Chemical Engineering subject scored the highest, while Electrical and Electronic Engineering subjects received the highest scores for Citation and H-Index.

QS Quacquarelli Symonds, an international higher education rating body, has analysed comparisons of 15,200 university programmes, 1,543 universities, and 88 locations worldwide across 51 academic disciplines.
