Mohamed Al-Fateh clinches Tokoh Siswa UMP 2019 title
Mohamed Al-Fateh Ab Razak, 22, was conferred the Tokoh Siswa UMP 2019 title for winning Leadership Award and Public Speaking Award at the Award Ceremony for Co-Curriculum & Student Recognition 2019 at Vistana Hotel Kuantan on 19 December 2019. Muar-born Mohamed Al-Fateh, who is pursuing the Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) course, was announced as the winner for his excellence display as the Chairman of Communication and Corporate Department under the Student Representative Council 2018/2019.
Besides, he is active in emceeing, public speaking and debating. He is also active in organising Speaker Corner and currently establishing Student Consultation Council. He is the youngest child to Ab Razak Ibrahim, 61, dan Fabilah Atan, 54, and he had represented UMP in Student Parliament 2017 and had the opportunity to speak for 30 minutes to present a motion on TN50.
In his speech, he was grateful and excited by the award and considered it as an impetus for his success in the university. The award ceremony was presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rosli Hainin. Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Dato’ Dr. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Dr. Kamal Zuhari Zamli, the Director for Sports and Culture Centre, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Rosli Abu Bakar and the Dean of Student Development, Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Dr. Ahmad Johari Mohamad.
According to Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd. Rosli, who was delivering the speech on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the ceremony was the manifestation of appreciation to the service and contribution from the students in prospering the university life in UMP.
“The ceremony also demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the UMP Management in recognising the significant role of the students in the context of university development, particularly in terms of soft skills that are characterised through the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual excellence, in line with the aspirations of the National Education Philosophy.
“The added values from various initiatives, programmes and activities are not only beneficial in terms of the enrichment of campus life experience but also impactful for the improvement of skills and marketability in the long term,” he said.
He added that the management has introduced several initiatives to increase students participation in various student activities based on the identified core areas.
“It is formulated to maintain the excellent competitiveness and graduate employability of 96% this year.
“Other than the academic transcript, the graduates can obtain a second transcript issued by Student Affairs and Alumni Department as the testimony regarding their involvement in the student activities during their study in UMP.
“i-CGPA is also introduced in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015–2025 (Higher Education) and further developed through x-CGPA which is more holistic and realistic with the focus on 10 specific attributes, namely soft skills, values, attitudes and professionalism, communication, leadership and teamworking, problem-solving, information technology management and life-long learning, entrepreneurship, creativity, solidarity and patriotism, and volunteerism,” he said.
The ceremony also awarded the UMP Vice-Chancellor Award and Community Service Award to Ezwan Shah Mohd Nordin. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) Award and Initiation and Innovation Award was conferred to Muhammad Taufiq A. Rahman. The Volunteerism Award was given to Mohamad Hanif Fitri Nordin from the Faculty of Industrial Management. The Culture Award was won by Mohamad Firdaus Ab Hadi from the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology, and the Uniformed Bodies Award was given to Nur Izana Zaherman from the Faculty of Industrial Management.
The Best Advisor Award was won by Al-Muhaimin Ali, who is the UMP Youth and Sports Senior Officer cum the advisor of UMP Archery Club for his commitment to making UMP proud in archery. Meanwhile, the Sports Award was won by Fadhil Ashraff Ab Rahim from Engineering College. The Best Club Award was won by the Student Representative for Residential College 4 (PEKA 4) with a trophy and RM1,000 grant. The Most Promising Club Award was awarded to the Secretariat of Culture and Arts.
