Superior Personality and Sustainability of Wisdom UMPSA aims 6 commitments, 20 initiatives.
GAMBANG, 16 February 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has the capacity in terms of resources, talent and expertise to enable the university to realise its vision and mission.
In order to achieve this important vision, UMPSA has set six commitments, 20 initiatives and 37 strategies that will be the compass of the movement to achieve the university’s success in 2024.
The six commitments are Academic Excellence, Management Sustainability, Interdisciplinary Student Excellence, Fostering Sustainability In Academic Programmes, Crafting Advanced TVET, Conserving The Essence of Knowledge and Preserving The Empowering Ecosystem.
With the theme of Superior Personality, it reflects the ability of competence and knowledge involving UMPSA staff and students.
This can be practised through the UMPSA core value principles: strong bond with the Creator, steadfast in upholding shared principles, creative in making wise decisions, resolute in facing challenges and proactive in taking actions.
A prudent approach is also suitable for managing any activity at any time, in any place and in any situation.
According to the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainudin, in engineering the advanced TVET, UMPSA needs to be able to distinguish TVET course offerings at UMPSA from polytechnics and community colleges.
“The phrase advanced TVET itself reflects a clear distinction that includes aspects of admission, study programmes, facilities and talent production.
“Therefore, there are five strategies to increase the enrolment of TVET students at UMPSA in the Program Perdana and Program Sepanjang Hayat (PSH), namely widening access to student admissions, MTUN strategic collaboration, flexible programmes, campus expansion and TVET education generation,” he said.
In addition, there are four UMPSA efforts towards producing industry-available skilled workers, namely Digital TVET, Industrial Teaching Factory, Industry-driven TVET Programme and MOHE policy improvement with the Ministry of Human Resources.
He said this while delivering the 2024 UMPSA Vice-Chancellor Mandate in front of 1,000 UMPSA staff and students at the UMPSA Astaka Hall Gambang Campus.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman and the university management.
There was also the launch of the luxury book ‘UMPSA Terbang Tinggi, Melestarikan Kecemerlangan’ which gathers highlights of UMPSA’s successes and achievements over the 22 years of its establishment which is full of pictorial storytelling to capture important events of the university.
At the same time, a total of 58 staff received a Sanjungan Budi certificate of appreciation in conjunction with 20 years of service with UMPSA.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor accepted the constitutional statute submitted by the Legal Advisor, Marlina Mamat.
