UMPSA achieves outstanding success at Huawei 10th National ICT Competition Malaysia 2025–2026

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 December 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) proudly celebrates its outstanding achievement in a programme organised by Huawei Malaysia at the Huawei 10th National ICT Competition 2025–2026 Award Ceremony held at Courtyard by Marriott Kuala Lumpur.

Through the Faculty of Computing (FK), UMPSA successfully secured second and third prizes in the Innovation Track category, thereby highlighting the university’s commitment to excellence in technology, research, and digital innovation.

The prestigious competition, which brought together more than 1,900 participants from 40 universities nationwide, was held on 23 October 2025 at TRX, Huawei Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, before the official award ceremony took place on 1 December 2025.

UMPSA’s success is the result of perseverance, dedication, and close collaboration between supervising lecturers and students who worked diligently to produce high-impact solutions.

The Definitely Clueless team from FK created success when they won second prize under the supervision of Ts. Dr Hoh Wei Siang, comprising Lee Jia Cong as team leader together with Gan Wei Lin and Cheah Choong Yee, with the developed project capturing the judges’ attention through its technical robustness and innovative and practical solution design to meet industry needs.

UMPSA’s success continued with the winning of third prize by the Recycle Wise team led by Jimmy Tang Jing Ming, together with team members Yoon Si Kee and Chan Shu Wei under the supervision of Associate Professor Ts. Dr Adzhar Kamaludin.

Their project was recognised for offering creative, relevant digital solutions with the potential to contribute to sustainability through the use of smart technology.

In addition to the success of these two teams, UMPSA was honoured when it received the Excellent Academy Award 2025, which recognises the university’s role in national ICT talent development, active engagement with Huawei, and consistent achievements in national-level competitions.

The award was received by the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias.

According to Professor Dr Yatimah, this achievement is clear proof that the university’s continuous efforts in strengthening the digital education and innovation ecosystem are beginning to yield proud results.

“The achievements of students in prestigious competitions such as the Huawei National ICT Competition not only reflect their ability to master industry-standard technical skills but also demonstrate UMPSA’s readiness in producing competent, creative graduates who are capable of solving real-world technology challenges.

“The recognition received through the Excellent Academy Award 2025 also proves that UMPSA’s strategic collaboration with industry, including Huawei Malaysia, has a significant impact on the development of national ICT talent.

“Congratulations to the supervising lecturers and students who demonstrated high dedication in research and project development, thereby bringing pride to UMPSA on the national stage,” she said.

This achievement strengthens UMPSA’s determination to continue charting greater success in the Huawei ICT Competition 2026–2027 and beyond, in line with the university’s aspiration to shape competent, innovative digital talent ready to drive the nation’s future.
