UMPSA community parade while reciting selawat to celebrate university-level Maulidur Rasul celebration
PEKAN, 9 September 2025 - The Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) community paraded towards Masjid Al-Jazari with the chanting of selawat upon the great Prophet Muhammad PBUH in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul Celebration to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, and the management team led the parade together with 22 contingents representing departments and faculties.
She expressed appreciation to the 22 contingents from the responsibility centres that participated and hoped that this event would strengthen students’ love for the Prophet Muhammad PBUH and empower the UMPSA community as a model of a civilised ummah (ummah madani).
Also present were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Dato Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, Registrar, Dato Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, Director of the Centre for Islamic and Human Development (PIMPIN), Associate Professor Dr. Rashidi Abbas, UMPSA staff and students.
Meanwhile, Professor Dato Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Ziad said that the Maulidur Rasul celebration is not merely an annual ceremony, but rather a manifestation of love for the Prophet Muhammad PBUH as well as the campus community’s resolve to emulate his sunnah in daily life.
“This year’s celebration theme is very much in line with the current needs of Muslims.
“Building a Civilised Ummah means producing a society based on faith and piety, knowledge and wisdom, noble character, unity, as well as balance between worldly and hereafter matters,” he said in a speech delivered on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
The programme saw the winner of the parade competition awarded to the Treasury Department.

Meanwhile, the second and third places were won by the Library and the Centre for Advanced TVET, respectively.
The ceremony was also enlivened with a special Maulidur Rasul lecture delivered by Al-Fadhil Ustaz Harryanto Rizal Lokman.
