UMPSA honours former Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) for their contributions to university

PUTRAJAYA, 25 January 2025 – The Majlis Sanjungan Budi was held to honour the former Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, and the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, in recognition of their dedicated service and significant contributions to the university.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, along with members of the University Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees, and the university’s management team.

In his speech, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak expressed the university’s highest appreciation and gratitude for their dedicated service.

“Their contributions are deeply valued, and we hope they will continue to offer their advice and expertise for the benefit of the UMPSA community,” he said during the Majlis Sanjungan Budi and the Vice-Chancellor’s Handover Ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, stated that this ceremony holds great significance for UMPSA, serving as a token of appreciation to recognise the excellence of both leaders.

“As the fifth Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA for three years and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) for over ten years, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie has undoubtedly gained vast experience in steering UMPSA towards excellence in various aspects.

“His leadership has helped UMPSA become one of the top institutions in Malaysia and internationally, maintaining its reputation as the leading university within the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN),” she said.

During the event, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar also witnessed the official handover ceremony between Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin and Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, marking the transition to the Sixth Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA.

Professor Dr. Yatimah expressed her commitment to leveraging the university’s strengths to further elevate its mission and vision.

The ceremony also recognised the contributions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, who had performed the functions of UMPSA Vice-Chancellor for the past two months.

The event was further enlivened with a musical performance by the UMPSA Sports and Cultural Centre.
