UMPSA participates in the 67th National Day parade in Kuantan and Pekan
KUANTAN, 31 August 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) sent two contingents to participate in the parade for the 67th National Day Celebration at the Pahang State Level in Kuantan and Pekan.
The contingent was composed of 60 staff members, led by Hairulazam Haron in Kuantan and Ts. Haji Azahar Mohd Yasin in Pekan.
His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, along with Her Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, graced the 67th National Day Celebration Ceremony at the Pahang State Level, held at Padang MBK 1.
Also present were the Honourable Menteri Besar of Pahang, Dato' Sri Diraja Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, the Honourable Pahang State Secretary, Dato' Sri Haji Zulkifli Haji Yaacob, members of the State Government Exco, and UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin.
This year's celebration, themed 'Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka,' also featured the participation of 28 UMPSA students from the Choir Group, who had the opportunity to perform and add vibrancy to the event.
The spirit of patriotism was palpable, as nearly 65,000 visitors attended the parade at Padang MBK 1.
In Pekan, more than 5,000 residents gathered at the Pekan Municipal Council Square as early as 6:30 a.m., dressed in patriotic colours reflecting the Jalur Gemilang.
The event in Pekan, which was celebrated with great enthusiasm, was officiated by Pekan District Officer, Datuk Zaliza Zulkifli.
Also representing UMPSA in Pekan was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha.
The UMPSA contingent featured the university’s mascots, an elephant and a tiger, along with their convocation robes.
A total of 38 walking contingents from government agencies, private entities, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) participated in the event, as well as 15 decorated vehicles in the parade.
UMPSA is the 16th public university (UA) established by the government, offering higher education programs focused on Engineering and Technology, and is a key provider of the nation's TVET programs.
Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin expressed his gratitude to the UMPSA contingent for contributing to the lively atmosphere of the 67th National Day Celebration in Pahang.
"With this participation, we can indirectly foster the spirit of patriotism among each other," he said.
