Centre for Modern Languages UMPSA to host TOP-Notch Exhibition

PEKAN, 10 November 2025 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) is pleased to announce the organisation of the TOP-Notch Exhibition, a key initiative under the CML Empowerment Programme.

The TOP-Notch Exhibition makes its debut this year aiming to enhance students’ professionalism, confidence, and effectiveness in poster presentations, serving as a platform for students to showcase their ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

This initiative aligns with UMPSA’s strategic mission to produce globally competent graduates who possess strong technical communication and presentation skills in line with current industrial and professional demands.

The TOP-Notch Exhibition will be held from 10 to 13 November 2025, simultaneously at Level 3, UMPSA Pekan Library and Dewan Tun Teja, UMPSA Gambang, from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Almost 1,400 ULE2332 English for Technical Communication students are expected to showcase their technical communication skills, bringing together innovation and confidence in this four-day event.

A distinctive feature of this year’s exhibition is the involvement of industry representatives and academic panels from eight faculties across UMPSA, who have been invited to serve as external assessors.

Their participation reflects UMPSA’s commitment to fostering meaningful industry-academia collaboration in education.

Through their constructive feedback and professional perspectives, these expert panels will provide students with valuable insights that will strengthen their presentation techniques, technical content delivery, and overall communication competence.

The organisers stated that the exhibition serves as a transformative learning experience that encourages students to integrate creativity, innovation, and technical accuracy in their presentations.

It also provides opportunities for students to engage in reflective learning, critical thinking, and teamwork, which are key attributes essential for success in both academic and professional environments.

The Dean of the Centre for Modern Languages, Associate Professor Dr. Zuraina Ali expressed her hope that the exhibition would inspire students to value communication as a lifelong professional skill.

“The TOP-Notch Exhibition represents CML’s continuous effort to empower students to speak with confidence, present with purpose, and connect meaningfully across disciplines.

“We hope this platform will motivate students to refine their language and communication skills in preparation for real-world challenges,” she said.

Meanwhile, TOP-Notch Exhibition Programme Director, Nurkarimah Yusof, highlighted the collaborative and developmental nature of the event.

“This exhibition is not merely an assessment for the ULE2322 course, but it serves as a learning journey where students receive constructive guidance from both academics and industry professionals.

“The feedback they gain here will help them polish their presentation techniques, develop resilience, and appreciate the power of technical communication and persuasiveness in product pitching,” she added.

The TOP-Notch Exhibition is expected to feature a diverse range of student poster presentations, interactive displays, and evaluation sessions involving UMPSA academic staff and invited professional assessors.

The event underscores CML’s ongoing efforts to empower language learners, promote effective interdisciplinary communication, and nurture 21st-century communicators who are articulate, confident, and industry-ready.
