UMPSA Journals secure second and third place for Best Journal Article at 15th MAPIM-KPT Awards

PUTRAJAYA, 18 December 2024 – Journals published by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Press were awarded second and third place for Best Journal Article at the 15th Majlis Penerbitan Ilmiah Malaysia (MAPIM)-Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Awards 2024, held at Dewan Za’aba, Ministry of Higher Education.

The ceremony, officiated by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, gathered over 50 award recipients, recognising achievements from the 2023 assessment in 20 categories.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister expressed that the event is both a recognition and a significant momentum to honour efforts and valuable contributions in the field of national scholarly publishing.

“Scholarly publishing plays an important role in connecting knowledge with society, encouraging the sharing of ideas, and building a strong academic network.

“However, we should not merely focus on the outputs but also consider the primary impact of scholarly publications on the country and society,” he said.

During the ceremony, the article titled ‘Lean Culture for A Successful Lean Manufacturing Implementation: An Empirical Evidence from Malaysian Manufacturing Industry’, published in the International Journal of Industrial Management (IJIM), secured second place for Best Journal Article in the Social Sciences and Humanities Category (International Index).

The article was authored by Dr Norhana Mohd Aripin, Dr Gusman Nawanir, and Dr Suhaidah Hussain, lecturers from UMPSA’s Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI).

Meanwhile, the article titled ‘Mechanical, Thermal, and Morphological Properties of Poly(Lactic Acid) (PLA)/Recycled Tyre Rubber Waste Compatibilised With Chain Extender’, published in the Journal of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology (JCEIB), won third place for Best Journal Article in the Science, Technology, and Medicine Category (National Index).

This article was authored by Ramzi Qasem Hasan Ali Saghir, a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), together with Associate Professor Ir. Dr Mohd Bijarimi Mat Piah and Waleed Alhadadi.

The Director of UMPSA Press, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr Norazlianie Sazali, extended her congratulations and praise to the UMPSA researchers for their efforts and commitment to empowering national scholarly publishing.

“This achievement serves as motivation to continue striving to improve the quality of publications in the future.

“This recognition is also an appreciation of the hard work of these researchers in contributing to the advancement of science and technology,” she said.

At the same event, the Appreciation Award was also presented to individuals who had led member publishers of MAPIM from 2021 to 2023.
