UMPSA distributes free food containers to make the Sustainability Initiative Campaign a success
PEKAN, 19 March 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) distributes food containers as an effort to raise awareness among its citizens about efforts to protect the environment to make the Sustainability Initiative Campaign a success in line with realizing the university's desire towards a Sustainable Campus.
Present to distribute the food containers for free, the Director of the Sustainability Development Center (SDC), Dr. Suhaidah Hussain at the UMPSA Pekan Ramadan Bazaar Grounds.
According to Dr. Suhaidah, this programme is part of SDC's efforts to raise awareness among university students to value food and to make the Let's Takeaway campaign a success to encourage employees to bring their own food containers when purchasing in the bazaar as well as in shops and cafeterias.
"This effort is a sign of support for the campaign to avoid the use of single-use plastic and one of the ways to preserve and conserve the environment while avoiding waste," she said.
The programme was supported by the Department of Student and Alumni Affairs (JHEPA) and the Student Representative Council (MPP) of UMPSA.
Present with JHEPA General Manager, Haryani Abdullah.
The Sustainability Initiative Campaign was launched by UMPSA Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin with eight initiative campaigns namely Hydrat: Drink Empty Water and Bring Your Own Water Bottle, Lets Takeaway: Bring Your Own Container, Green the Environment, UMPSA Recycle Day: Reduce Waste, One Step at a Time and Healthy Lifestyle: Choose Wellness Every Day.
While the other three initiatives are Organic Waste Separation: Composting for a Greener Future, Go Green: Turn Your Waste into a Sustainable Resource, Carbon Free Vehicles: Sustainable Practices on the Road.
This free container delivery programme will continue on 26 March 2024 at the Gambang Campus UMPSA Ramadan Bazaar.
This effort will strengthen the culture of sustainable practices in the university to protect the environment and contribute to sustainable development.
