35 graduands receive CBTM Diploma in UMP and AKEPT collaboration programme
PAYA BESAR, 8 November 2022 - A total of 35 graduands of the Competency-Based Talent Management Professional (CBTM) 3.0 programme in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) received their diplomas presented by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin in conjunction with the 17th UMP Convocation Ceremony held at the UMP Sports Complex Hall.
To date, the programme under the Lifelong Learning (PSH) agenda implemented through UMP Advanced has successfully produced 115 alumni of the Professional Diploma in Competency-Based Talent Management (CBTM).
According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the management agenda and leadership talent empowerment are important in the ecosystem of organisations and higher education institutions in line with AKEPT’s aspiration to be a pillar in cultivating competent talent management in public universities (UA).
“The execution of human capital development and talent management aligns with the importance of higher education human resource development and world scholarship towards consolidating high performance job delivery in the future and facing the current challenges of global higher education,” he said.
Fazielah Mohamad, Registrar of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), who received the CBTM Diploma, said this programme is suitable for administrators and academic staff to highlight talent management according to specific modules and methods.
“This programme can provide exposure on leadership and manage reforms and changes according to current needs.
“Therefore, leadership talent needs to be highlighted and renewed,” she said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Fauri, the coordinator and graduate of CBTM 3.0, said most of them are lecturers and administrators from various strategic positions at UA throughout Malaysia.
In this cohort, for the first time, they had to complete 11 modules based on the new framework of UMP Lifelong Learning (PSH) and conducted 100 per cent online due to the COVID-19 pandemic during the period of study.
Lecturer of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Associate Professor Dr. Yazrina Yahya, who also received a CBTM diploma, said the programme is important in providing knowledge and skills for one to understand the importance of competency-based talent management at Higher Education Institutions (HEI).
“This programme is also important in ensuring that the appointment of lecturers and officers can be done effectively while also helping to improve talent management at the faculty level and through strategic interviews that focus on the competencies required at the faculty,” she said.
Also present were the Chairman of the UMP Advanced Board of Directors, Dato’ Mohd Sharil Abdullah and Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Hamzah Ahmad, who performs the function of the Chief Executive Officer of UMP Advanced.
A total of 1,775 graduands received their degrees and diplomas at the 5th and 6th sessions during the last day of the 17th UMP Convocation Ceremony.
