Continue study unlocks more opportunities
PAYA BESAR, 8 November 2022 - “Quality exposure, knowledge and evaluation are tickets for us to open up more opportunities for success in the future,” said Fatrus Bahari, 45, recipient of the Lifelong Learning Award (PSH), UMP Advanced at the UMP 17th Convocation Ceremony.
Fatrus Bahari said although some argue that now academic qualifications are not everything, formal education recognised by higher education institutions (IPT) is important to be more advanced and competitive in the future.
“I chose Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to pursue my study because it offers business management courses that fit my current position and has an alternative campus in Kuching, Sarawak to facilitate the process of attending classes on weekends,” he said.
Fatrus, a graduand of Executive Bachelor Business Management, called on industry people, especially the younger generation, to always have the awareness to seek knowledge because advanced knowledge about a matter will benefit them in the future.
“The encouragement to seek knowledge for the younger generation now needs to be enhanced in giving them the awareness to continue their studies in IPT for the needs of knowledgeable human capital in the future,” he said.
Also receiving the Lifelong Learning Award (PSH) was Ong Chang Yang, a graduand of Executive Bachelor Mechatronics Technology, 35, who managed to earn a CGPA of 4.00, also shared the success with his beloved family.
“My mother and sister have sacrificed their time and money a lot to help me learn so that I can get a good job to change our lives in the future,” he said.
He also advised the younger generation today to always have the desire to continue their studies even though they already have a permanent and secure career.
He said that when we are young, we need to continue studying as far as we can so as not to regret it later.
UMP Advanced Lifelong Learning Award (PSH) was presented by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin during the UMP 17th Convocation Ceremony.
