Flexible education opportunity to increase knowledgeable human capital development

KUANTAN, 20 March 2022 - The Lifelong Learning (LLL) programmes offering will give working individuals and industries the opportunity and ability to increase their knowledge and skill and open doors to continue to higher education level.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin the importance of future education based on flexible education aligns with the Third Shift: Nation of Lifelong Learners in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education).

“This education model will be the primary pillar in offering the LLL programmes at UMP to provide the opportunity for knowledgeable human capital development to spur development in the national economy,” he said.

He also advised UMP graduands to become honourable individuals who can act as an example to others and maintain noble values.

Professor Dato’ Ts. Yuserrie was present to deliver the diplomas and degrees to 958 UMP Advanced graduands consisting of 510 Executive Master’s graduands, 448 Executive Bachelor’s and Professional Diploma graduands in the sixth and seventh sessions of the 15th UMP Convocation Ceremony.

He also congratulated graduands of the Professional and Executive Programmes on their achievements and persistence in continuing their studies until they succeeded in their respective fields.

Also present were the UMP Advanced Chairman of Board of Directors, Dato’ Mohd Sharil Abdullah and UMP Advanced Chief Executive Officer, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed.

In addition, Dato’ Mohd Sharil expressed his commitment that UMP Advanced would continue strengthening its lifelong learning programmes to expand access to higher education for all walks of life.

He said that priority would be given to those currently working and at the same time wanting to continue to higher education.

“UMP Advanced believes that everyone has the right to obtain knowledge and at UMP Advanced we hold onto the motto of Education For All, No One Left Behind and as pioneers in lifelong learning, we are committed to providing relevant and high quality education programmes,” he added.

They were grateful to realise the 15th UMP Convocation Ceremony face-to-face this time after being forced to postpone it twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the globe.

In the meantime, UMP will carry out convocation ceremonies three times this year, namely the 15th Convocation Ceremony that was held on 12-20 March, 16th Convocation Ceremony in August and 17th Convocation Ceremony in November.

In conjunction with 20 years of UMP’s establishment as the 16th public university in Malaysia, the university has successfully produced graduates who are competent and vied for by employers.

Until now, UMP has successfully produced 33,573 graduates while the graduate employability of UMP graduates is at an impressive rate of 96 per cent.
