Husband and wife tearfully receive Posthumous Award for son
KUANTAN, 17 March 2022 - No words uttered by husband and wife duo when receiving their late son’s degree at the 15th Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Convocation Ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, here.
The late Muhammad Amirul Muizz, 24, had died from a road accident about two years ago while on his way to Felda Bukit Goh Training Academy to undergo his industrial training.
He was a former student at the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI) at UMP and would be completing his study after undergoing industrial training at the academy.
Even more heartbreaking was that the incident was witnessed by his parents who followed him to bring necessities to his rented house.
According to his mother, Pazilah Haron, 54, it was still fresh in memory travelling from Bera to Kuantan to accompany his son to the rented house to start his industrial training in Bukit Goh.
“As usual, when he returns to campus on a motorcycle, my husband and I will follow him all the way to Kuantan.
“Apparently, it was the last time we were with him; who would have thought in less than 15 minutes to his rented house in Kuantan, Amirul Muizz was involved in an accident.
“It was more heartbreaking because it happened before our own eyes,” she said.
She added that she still remembers his son intended to wear beautiful clothes on his convocation day and take pictures around UMP Pekan and Gambang Campus.
“However, everything is now just a memory and I would like to thank UMP for the invitation to receive the degree that our son so desperately desires,” said the father, Tahar Suhaimi Mohd. Shariff, 54.
Tahar, who was present with his wife Pazilah Haron, 54, received the Posthumous Award presented by the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abi Musa Asa’ ari Mohamed Nor in the hall before the award ceremony for graduates.
“My hope is that our youngest son, Muhammad Adam Mukhriz, 19, who is currently studying at Institut Kemahiran MARA, Pekan, will follow in the footsteps of his late brother who resumed his study at UMP.
“Since his death, UMP often contacted us and took care of all the academic needs including agreeing to complete his study by awarding this degree.
“This is something that really pleased our family because our son’s desire to make us happy was finally achieved,” he said.
Also present were the Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin.
