UMPSA celebrates 100 international graduates from 19 countries at 19th Convocation

GAMBANG, 26 October 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) marked a proud milestone by celebrating the achievements of 100 international graduates from 19 countries at its 19th Convocation Ceremony, held from 26 to 29 October 2024 at the Sports Complex Hall, Gambang Campus.

This diverse group of graduates included 30 recipients of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, 24 Master’s degree graduates, two dual-degree graduates, and 44 Bachelor’s degree recipients, representing a broad spectrum of disciplines across UMPSA’s faculties and schools.

Among the notable graduates, Anas Adel Ali Bamakhramah from Yemen, who earned a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours from the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering Technology (FTKPM), was honoured with the International Graduates Academic Excellence Award (Undergraduate).

Reflecting on his success, Anas shared, I never imagined that my hard work at UMPSA would be rewarded with such an incredible achievement. International students here receive the same level of support as local students, which has been instrumental in my journey.

"Beyond academics, I was fortunate to immerse myself in Malaysia’s rich culture and gain valuable experiences that have prepared me for the professional world," he added.

Anas credited UMPSA’s hands-on learning approach and supportive environment for helping him develop the skills and confidence needed for his future career. 

He also encouraged current students to embrace their university years as a transformative journey, saying,

"University life is where character, identity, and discipline are shaped – cherish this time, not just for the degree but for the lifelong lessons it offers."

Another graduate, Elnaz Yousefi from Iran, who completed her Master of Science at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, expressed her excitement at achieving this milestone. 

Now pursuing a PhD, she highlighted the enriching cultural exchange she experienced at UMPSA, including learning basic Malay and understanding local traditions.

"This unique experience will remain a cherished part of my life.

“The people here are so warm and welcoming that I often find myself missing my homeland while being grateful for this second home," she said.

Mohammad Sojon Beg from Bangladesh, who also graduated with a Master of Science degree from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, described his UMPSA journey as "one of the best decisions" of his life.

"The university provides an excellent environment for students, and the support I received made my learning experience both smooth and rewarding. 

“I not only gained knowledge but also built lasting friendships and connections," he shared.

As UMPSA celebrates its 22nd year, the university continues to attract international students, solidifying its reputation as a global hub for quality education. 

The systematic and holistic educational ecosystem at UMPSA reflects the commitment of its staff at every level, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the university's global prominence.

The 19th Convocation serves as a reflection of UMPSA’s mission of nurturing global talent and fostering academic excellence across borders.
