Vice-Chancellor Awards goes to Rashwini
PAYA BESAR, 5 November 2022 – Being active in co-curriculum and association at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is not an excuse for being left behind in study.
This is evidenced by Rashwini d/o Balasuntram, 26, a graduand of B. Eng (Hons.) Chemical Engineering who received the Vice-Chancellor Award at the recent UMP 17th Convocation Ceremony.
The daughter of the couple Manjulah Radakrishnan and Balasuntram Balaraman said, time management is crucial in achieving success.
Despite being active in the Yayasan UMP Squad and being involved in dance performances for UMP events and competitions that UMP organised, it is no excuse to ignore the study.
She said one should be wise to manage time well and always review the lessons systematically.
“Although I hold the position of Head of Department for UMP IEM Club, I have never been relieved of my responsibilities as a student and always give priority to each project and task given by the lecturers.
“If I am busy during the day with activities and programmes, in the evening, I will focus on my study,” she said.
This Klang-born lady added that she did not expect to be selected as the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor Award because she felt more people were eligible.
Rashwini obtained an excellent Cumulative Grade Point Average (PNGK) of 3.87 in her study at UMP.
She also represented the university in the National Chemical Engineering Symposium, Petron Road Safety Program 2018 and The 10th IEM Design Competition with the title Production of Gasoline from Polypropylene Plastic Waste.
The second of the four siblings aspires to work as an engineer and to pursue master’s and doctoral (PhD) degrees at some point.
Rashwini received the award from the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor at the Sports Complex Hall UMP Paya Besar during the first session of the UMP Convocation Ceremony.
