Bera chosen for the UMPSA TVET Promotional Tour

BERA, 28 July 2024 – The Bera District was the chosen destination for this edition of the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) TVET Promotion Tour.

Aligning with UMPSA's slogan, 'Technology for Society', the university continues its commitment to community care through programmes like the UMPSA TVET Promotional Tour Programme.

A total of 50 UMPSA staff and students participated in the two-day programme.

This UMPSA TVET Promotional Tour involved various activities and initiatives aimed at helping and easing the burden of the community in Felda Rentam.

According to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, as an Advanced TVET-based university, UMPSA provides ample opportunities for learning high-level TVET skills.

"UMPSA is part of the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN) along with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).

"In line with the National TVET Empowerment Agenda, UMPSA is actively promoting high-level TVET learning by focusing on providing the latest technology-based skills in Technology and Engineering.

"For this purpose, UMPSA continues to build international cooperation networks with universities in countries such as China, Germany, and Kazakhstan through dual degree programmes," he said, inviting the public to explore opportunities at UMPSA.

He also encouraged Felda staff, teachers, parents, and youth interested in continuing their studies or enhancing their technical skills to consider UMPSA or UMPSA Advanced.

"UMPSA Advanced is a subsidiary of UMPSA that offers various skills training, particularly for those who are already employed and looking to upskill," he added.

Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie also expressed his gratitude to the Honourable Kemayan Assemblyman, Tuan Khaizulnizam Mohamad Zuldin, for supporting the programme, and to all parties involved in making the event a success.

He hopes that this programme will continue to benefit the Felda Rentam community and serve as an inspiration for future initiatives.

“We at UMPSA welcome schools to visit our university to see firsthand the learning methods, laboratories, and facilities available here.

“The exhibitions we brought to Felda Rentam are just a small sample compared to what is available at the UMPSA campus,” he said.

Activities to welcome the Felda Rentam community included the UMPSA Rahmah Basket Aid Donation, a solar donation by UMPSA Advanced, and the UMPSA Educational Mini Carnival and exhibition.

Other events involved UMPSA lecturers and researchers, a Motivation Session with UMPSA Psychology Officer Nur Atiqah Mohd Nor, an Academic Briefing by Abdul Qayyum Zulkifli, a Dual Degree Briefing by the Director of the Centre for Strategic Academic Collaboration (PKSA), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Ruzaimi Mat Rejab, an Academic Briefing on the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), and insights from UMPSA volunteers.

There was also an Maghrib Lecture by the Dean of the Centre for Human Sciences (CHS), Dr. Mohamad Hilmi Mat Said at Annajah Mosque, Felda Rentam.

The programme was attended by over 600 people, including residents of Felda Rentam, students and teachers from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tembangau, SMK Bera Bandar, SMK Kemayan, and SMK Triang 3, as well as local residents.
