UMPSA establishes strategic collaboration with 6 industry partners in mineral development, mining, and sustainable technology

PUTRAJAYA, 4 November 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) established a collaboration with six industries focusing on Research and Development (R&D) and industrial grants related to mineral development, mining, and new sustainable technologies.

The programme was held in conjunction with the Festival of Ideas Putrajaya 2025 (FOI) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) today.

The ceremony witnessed UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, exchanging documents with six industry representatives, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berhormat Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud.

Present to exchange documents were the Chief Operating Officer of Binex Services and Solution Sdn. Bhd., Azman Luddin; Peter Lau representing Innomatrix Tech Sdn. Bhd.; Vice President of Rock Flow Dynamics (Southeast Asia), Dewi Haerani Kurniawati; and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Kumpulan Semesta Sdn. Bhd., Mohd Bazli Kamin.

Also taking part in the document exchange were the Project Manager of Vacuumschmelze (M) Sdn. Bhd., Mohd Yazit Sariff, and Chief Executive Officer of Pahang Mining Corporation (PMC), Dato’ Haji Ahmad Rizal Ali@Jaafar.

According to Professor Dr. Yatimah, this collaboration strengthens the relationship between UMPSA and industry partners across various sectors by opening opportunities for high-impact research collaborations.

“As the ASEAN Advanced TVET Hub, UMPSA focuses on areas such as. sustainable energy, industrial automation, and digital transformation.

“UMPSA has centres of excellence, including the Centre for Mineral Sustainability and Resource Recovery Technology (SMaRRT), which contributes expertise in formulating sustainable mining policies,” she said.

In addition, the industrial grant collaboration with Kumpulan Semesta Sdn. Bhd. involves activities such as reprocessing mining residues and rehabilitating former mining sites across Selangor.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with the international company Rock Flow Dynamics (Southeast Asia) involves the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP).
