UMPSA ranked 538th best globally in QSWUR Sustainability 2026 rating, recognises Global Sustainability Agenda

PEKAN, 19 November 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) is ranked 538th best in the world compared to 699th place last year, based on the announcement released by QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 on 18 November 2025.

This achievement places UMPSA at 133rd position in Asia, 11th best in Malaysia, and number one among the Malaysia Technical University Network (MTUN), recognising the university’s commitment to the Global Sustainability Agenda.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, this performance achievement reflects UMPSA’s strong commitment to embedding sustainability across research, teaching, governance, and community engagement.

“UMPSA has strengthened its position alongside world-class universities and produced globally recognised academic programmes with high-quality research that contributes significantly to the national higher education landscape.

“This achievement becomes a source of pride for the entire UMPSA community, who remain committed to excellence in teaching and learning, industrial collaboration, impactful research enhancement, and academic partnerships that have contributed to UMPSA’s accomplishments.

“It also reflects UMPSA’s continuous efforts in elevating its reputation and excellence in the global higher education arena,” she said.

She added that ranking is not the university’s main agenda, but the standing opens wider opportunities for UMPSA to move forward in exploring and strengthening all aspects of research, internationalisation, and sustainability.

“At the same time, this achievement reinforces the university’s position as the leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Hub in the region, anchored on academic excellence, impactful research, global collaboration, and the production of high-quality graduates,” she said.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 is a global-level rating system that evaluates the performance of universities worldwide based on Environmental Education (17%), Environmental Research (13%), Environmental Sustainability (15%), Employability and Opportunities (11%), and Equality (12%).

Also assessed are Health & Wellbeing (5%), Impact of Education (7%), Knowledge Exchange (10%), and Good Governance (10%).
