UMPSA and Telkom University sign student exchange agreement to expand international mobility
JAKARTA, 28 July 2026 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has expanded its international network by signing a Student Exchange Programme Agreement with Indonesia's Telkom University (Tel-U), strengthening internationalisation and student mobility between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed on behalf of UMPSA by Vice-Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, while Telkom University was represented by its Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Strategic Planning, Parman Sukarno, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.
The signing was witnessed by UMPSA's Dean of the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Razlan Yusoff, and Telkom University's Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Professor Dr. Farida Titik Kristanti, M.Si.
The agreement focuses on a reciprocal student exchange programme, enabling students from both universities to gain academic experience and take part in mobility activities at the partner institution.
Under the agreement, each institution will nominate at least five eligible students a year to participate, based on the principles of reciprocity and balanced participation.
The mobility opportunities include credit-bearing and non-credit programmes, delivered either in person or online as appropriate and by mutual agreement.
In addition to academic courses, participating students will be able to join cultural exchanges, industry visits, community visits and personal development activities organised by the host institution.
Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah said the partnership marked another strategic step in strengthening UMPSA's regional academic network and expanding global learning opportunities for its students.
"International mobility adds significant value to students' development by exposing them to different cultures, academic environments and industry practices.
"Our partnership with Telkom University will enable UMPSA students to broaden their global outlook, build intercultural competence and establish professional networks internationally," she said.
She emphasised that expanding student mobility was aligned with UMPSA's aspiration to produce well-rounded, globally oriented and competitive graduates equipped to meet future challenges.
Parman Sukarno said the agreement reflected both universities' commitment to strengthening cross-border academic ties and providing students with a more inclusive and high-impact learning experience.
Telkom University, based in Bandung, is one of Indonesia's leading private universities and has branch campuses in Jakarta, Surabaya and Purwokerto.
The one-year agreement also covers academic credit recognition, student welfare, mobility support, insurance protection, academic compliance, and cooperation in publications and knowledge-sharing involving students from both institutions.
The partnership is expected to benefit students at UMPSA and Telkom University through a more comprehensive international learning experience, while strengthening academic ties between Malaysia and Indonesia.
