Kang Hui Lynn and Aida Nadhirah Dual Degree UMPSA-BJTU graduands awarded Outstanding International Graduate and Alumni Liaison Person

BEIJING, 9 January 2026 – Graduands of the UMPSA–Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) Dual Degree Programme, Cohort 2, Kang Hui Lynn and Aida Nadhirah Abdullah Harun, who completed their Civil Engineering studies at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), received special recognition as Outstanding International Graduates for their excellent academic achievements and active involvement throughout their studies

Tan Zi Feng also received the Outstanding International Graduate recognition in conjunction with the Convocation Ceremony held at BJTU, China.

More meaningfully, Kang Hui Lynn and Aida Nadhirah Abdullah Harun were also appointed as Alumni Liaison Persons as part of efforts to strengthen alumni networks and continuous collaboration between graduands, the university, and industry.

Also appointed as Alumni Liaison Person was Adam Fahmi Ahmad Nizam.

For Kang Hui Lynn, the recognition was deeply meaningful as she pursued the dual degree programme for two years at UMPSA and two and a half years at BJTU, China in Civil Engineering.

“What is special about this programme is that students have the opportunity to study at UMPSA and BJTU, which is renowned for railway engineering.

“Classes in China are highly structured and professional, and students learn in small groups, ensuring that each student receives proper attention from lecturers.

“All our classes were taught in English, so there was no significant language barrier,” she said.

She added that for those planning to study there, there is no need to worry about adaptation.

“We will be well taken care of and there is a lot of support provided,” she added.

More interestingly, she, who has been passionate about swimming since her time at UMPSA, continued her interest there and was even selected to represent BJTU in swimming events.

Sharing her experience, Aida initially felt concerned about cultural and language differences.

“However, with preparatory classes and the help of friends, over time, we learn and are able to adapt.

“Do not be afraid to try something new because this experience is very valuable,” said Aida, who is an Electrical and Automation Engineering student at BJTU.

They are among the 25 graduands from Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), and related Mechanical Engineering fields who completed the Dual Degree Programme between UMPSA and BJTU in supporting the national rail industry development agenda.

The ceremony witnessed the President of BJTU, Professor Dr. Yu Zujun, presenting degrees to the graduands, witnessed by the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, and the Deputy Director, Student Strategic Development Cluster, Human Capital Development Division (BPMI), Public Service Department (JPA), Idayuwati Abdullah@Ab Rahman.
