UMPSA and Malaysian Education Strengthen Relations with Institutions in China
HEBEI, 19 September 2023 - The Malaysian Education delegation to China, attended by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, and the Deputy Director-General of Research and International Affairs at the Department of Higher Education, Ahmad Rizal Adnan, paid a courtesy visit to Hebei University (HBU).
The delegation was welcomed by the Vice President of HBU, Professor Dr. Shen Shigang, and HBU's management.
According to Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, this visit can strengthen and further enhance the existing international collaboration between UMPSA and HBU, which has been established since 2011.
"The growth of the manufacturing and industrial sectors in Malaysia at this time requires more skilled experts in various technology fields. Additionally, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) are seen as contributing to the nation's education system.
"The collaboration between UMPSA and HBU also benefits in providing Mandarin language instructors through the cooperation of the Terengganu Foundation, which involves Imtiaz secondary school students," he said.
Furthermore, he mentioned that, in addition to the role of teaching the language, the Confucius Institute at UMPSA also serves as a platform for cultural exchange between Malaysia and China, strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He also provided a briefing on the achievements and involvement throughout this collaboration, especially concerning the Confucius Institute at UMPSA.
During the visit, Professor Dato' Yuserrie Zainuddin and the delegation had the opportunity to present certificates of appreciation to ten Malaysian student delegates who participated in the 2023 Chinese Bridge Mandarin Summer Camp, which took place for two weeks at HBU.
Apart from UMPSA students, one student from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) also participated in this Summer Camp.
The delegation also had the opportunity to tour the HBU campus.
Meanwhile, Professor Ts. Dr. Yuserrie also provided support to 17 UMPSA students who participated in the Summer Camp mobility programme and those continuing their degree studies at HBU.
Also present on this visit were Jamalulail Abu Bakar, Director of the Human Capital Development Division, Public Service Department, Syarifah Fatzhiyah Syed Ahmad, Head of Sponsorship Deputy Director, Terengganu Foundation, Yong Ying Mei, Director of the Confucius Institute at UMPSA, as well as a group of UMPSA faculty deans.
