UMPSA, RUTS to explore cooperation in Engineering and Technology Programmes
SONGKLA, THAILAND, 19 February 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) is set to collaborate with Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Thailand in engineering and technology programmes as both universities are poised to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) soon.
The UMPSA delegation, led by the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, made a courtesy visit, joined by UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato Ts’. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, and senior management representatives.
Welcoming the UMPSA delegation were the President of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Professor Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, and the Vice President, Associate Professor Suthep Chooklin.
This meeting provides an opportunity for both parties to outline cooperation involving mobility programmes, student and lecturer exchanges, industrial training, innovation and research development, and expertise sharing between institutions.
According to Professor Dato Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, in line with UMPSA being one of the universities in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN), discussions also focused on the potential for cooperation in engineering and technology programmes and opportunities for RUTS lecturers to pursue remote supervision for doctoral studies (PhD).
"Also discussed were dual degree programmes, short courses particularly involving AI, Robotics, and Upskilling programmes involving the Advanced TVET Centre," he said.
During the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to tour the Marine Engineering laboratories here.
The UMPSA delegation, comprising motorcycle convoy participants and UMPSA Kilau volunteers, also participated in the Sustainable Mobility Expedition mission 'Songkhla Global Exploration' to celebrate UMPSA's 22nd anniversary celebrated on 16 February 2024.
