1,528 new students are now part of UMP family

KUANTAN, 8 October 2021 - A total of 1,528 new students who registered to study at the bachelor’s degree level at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) for the 2021/2022 academic session are now a part of the large UMP family.

The UMP’s large family consists of university board members, management, lecturers, field experts, researchers, administrators, students and alumni.

All family members need to respect each other, be responsible, hold on to trust and strive to create a happy family, especially in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation and is heading into the endemic phase.

Thus, the UMP family core values consist of a strong bond with the Creator, steadfast in upholding shared principles, creative in making wise decisions, resolute in facing challenges and proactive in taking action.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin who acts as the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, the University expressed its appreciation and congratulations to all students who were selected to be part of the UMP big family.

“With the offered opportunities, each student needs to shape the future based on their own initiative and commitment.

“Campus life demands students to spend time wisely throughout their studies and excellent students are not only great in lecture halls or laboratories but also active in co-curricular activities,” he said in the Vice-Chancellor’s Talk programme in conjunction with the online Student Induction Week (MINDS 2021) aired through the official FB UMPMalaysia and YouTube UMPTV platforms.

He also encouraged students to take the opportunity to participate in club or association activities as soon as they return to campus.

“There are 70 registered student bodies that can be joined based on sports, culture, recreation, innovation, leadership, public speaking, community service and entrepreneurship.

“In fact, make learning at the University to break through the wall that prevents harmonious interaction due to the stigma of race, religion and nationhood.

“We must create a sense of belonging in the context of the UMP big family,” he said.

UMP offers 41 programmes for this intake, including seven new programmes, namely Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Automotive) with Honours, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design and Analysis) with Honours, Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Oil and Gas) with Honours at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).

Other new programmes offered are the Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Industrial Automation) with Honours and the Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering Technology (Robotics) with Honours at the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM).

Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology (Building) with Honours is offered at the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA) and the Bachelor of Business Analysis with Honours is offered at the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI).

The University is also committed to creating innovation and uniqueness in academic programmes through strategic alliances at the international level that constantly add value through continuous benchmarking processes using world-class models such as collaboration programmes with Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HSKA), Germany.
