Yayasan UMP introduces Publication Incentive Scheme for postgraduate students
PAYA BESAR, 28 January 2022 - Yayasan UMP introduced the Publication Incentive Scheme as an incentive for postgraduate students at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to produce high quality research articles and make the university an international reputation.
According to the Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman who is also the Chairman of Yayasan UMP, this incentive was introduced to appreciate and encourage researchers who produce high-impact and Scopus-indexed articles.
“Yayasan UMP has allocated RM30,000 for this Publication Incentive Scheme specifically for international students who have produced articles.
“This incentive also benefits the local postgraduate students with the collaboration from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS).
“Research and publication of quality articles will have a positive impact on the field of research at UMP and make UMP famous,” he said, who was present to award the Publication Incentive Scheme to UMP students.
Apart from that, he also hoped that this incentive could cultivate students’ interest in writing quality articles and discovering new knowledge and technology.
One of the award recipients, Vorathin a/l Epin, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student in Mechanical Engineering, expressed his deep appreciation to UMP for the incentive.
“His incentive will inspire postgraduate students to continue writing articles,” he said, who has produced articles on fibre optic sensors titled ‘Bandwidth modulation and center wavelength shift of a single FBG for simultaneous water level and temperature sensing’.
Meanwhile, her friend, Putri Nur Farhana Mohd Shamsuddin, 28, a Master of Science student, expressed her feelings and gratitude when her article was selected to receive this incentive.
She initially submitted the article at her friend’s suggestion and did not expect to be selected to receive this incentive.
“My article is about research in the field of driverless vehicles and more focused on water surface vehicles.
“This research also focuses on the navigation system of unmanned water surface vehicles to track objects on the water,” she said.
Also present were Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who performs the functions of the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli and Dean of IPS, Professor Datin Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim.
This year, 75 students were selected to receive the Publication Incentive Scheme award from Yayasan UMP.
