UMP climbs to 103 in the world in 2022 GWUR UI rating

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is ranked 103 compared to 128 in 2021 in the 2022 UI Greenmetric World University Rankings (GWUR) rating. The evaluation is based on assessing environmental sustainability efforts involving six main scopes, namely infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation and education which showed UMP achieved an overall mark of 8,200 compared to 7,650 in 2021. This puts UMP in the fifth-best position in Malaysia and first in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to lead as the best university in Malaysia when it is ranked 25th best in the world. Also ranked in the top five in Malaysia are Universiti Malaya (UM) (50), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) (53) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) (91). The results of this rating were announced at Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta on 12 December 2022 in an online ceremony recently.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, this achievement is a continuous commitment of the university towards environmental conservation and preservation through various teaching, research, co-curricular and quality management activities based on effective environmental management.

UMP collaborates with 8 industry partners

Industry

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) entered into a joint agreement with eight industries in developing research and work-based learning (WBL) which would benefit in producing holistic graduates. The industry partners involved Kaneka (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., MZR Global Sdn. Bhd., Cybersecurity Malaysia, MR OSH Solution, Singularity Aerotech Asia Sdn. Bhd., Zen Consult, Pahang Zakat Collection Centre and BI Technologies Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

Present to sign the agreement were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin representing UMP while the industry was represented by the Assistant General Manager of Kaneka (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Ahmad Kamari Nordin, Chairman of MZR Global Sdn. Bhd., Dr. Mohd Fauzi Shaffie and Chief Consultant of MR OSH Solution, Muhammad Rushdi Abdul Rahman.

Also present were the Acting Head of Cybersecurity Malaysia Division, Mohd Zabri Adil Talib, Chief Executive Officer of Singularity Aerotech Asia Sdn. Bhd., Hafeiz Murshidie Hasan, Head of Public and Corporate Relations Division, Pahang Zakat Collection Centre, Tuan Haji Che Samsol Ibrahim, General Manager of BI Technologies Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Mohd Podzi Haji Mahmud, and Chief Engineer of Zen Consult, Ir. Mohd Zamany Hasan.

UMP collaborates with Istanbul Medipol University (IMU) and Ankara Medipol University (AMU)

Istanbul

The collaboration between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Istanbul Medipol University (IMU) and Ankara Medipol University (AMU) will strengthen the academic and research fields that will pave the way towards improving relations involving both higher education institutions from Malaysia and Turkey.

This collaboration focuses on student mobility and exchange programmes, appointment of visiting professors, research, teaching and collaboration which also involves awareness campaigns related to media literacy and UNESCO information with the community in Ankara.

The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin today exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) document with the Rector of Ankara Medipol University (AMU), Professor Ahmet Zeki Sengil witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at a ceremony held in Ankara, Turkey.
