UMP leaps to 129th best university in Asia
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) leaped to 129th spot compared to 133 last year in the QS Asia University Rankings announced by the international rating agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds for 2022. The evaluation conducted on 687 institutions across Asia with 40 new entries was based on 11 indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per paper, papers per faculty, and staff with a PhD. The other criteria are international research network, proportion of international faculty, proportion of international students, proportion of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students. UMP was also listed in The Best Global Universities Rankings in the US News & World Report that measures an institution’s academic research performance based on 13 indicators, including global and regional reputations. Based on the report, UMP is ranked 1,058th best in the world, 258th best in Asia, and 9th best among universities in Malaysia. While the Energy and Fuels subject is ranked 173rd in the world, the Engineering subject is ranked 343rd, and the Chemistry subject is ranked 734th. 12 UMP lecturers listed as 2% world’s best scientists
Twelve Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) lecturers are listed among the two per cent of the best scientists in the world in various fields and disciplines. This recognition refers to the recent data from Stanford University in the United States of America. They are Professor Dr. Jose Rajan from Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FSTI), Professor Dr. Rizalman Mamat from College of Engineering (KKEJ), Dr. Sudhakar Kumarasamy from Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Associate Professor Dr. Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah from KKEJ, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zularisam Ab. Wahid from Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Professor Dr. Md. Maksudur Rahman Khan from KKEJ. Also listed are the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli from Faculty of Computing (FK), Associate Professor Dr. Md. Arafatur Rahman from FK, Professor Ts. Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman from KKEJ, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Kumaran a/l Kadirgama from FTKMA and Ts. Dr. Norazlianie Sazali from KKEJ.
