International Professors Summit 2026 highlights innovation in Mathematics Education

BANDAR LAMPUNG, 7 January 2026 — Universitas Malahayati celebrated its Dies Natalis ke-32 with the successful hosting of the International Professors Summit 2026, bringing together leading scholars from Malaysia and Indonesia to discuss innovative developments in mathematics, statistics, and science education. 

The summit carried the theme “Transforming Statistical, Mathematics and Sciences Knowledge into Real World Breakthroughs.”

The event opened with cultural performances, followed by welcoming remarks from Rector Dr. H. Muhammad Kadafi, S.H., M.H, and an address by Arif Jamali, S.Pd., M.Pd from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. 

Both speakers emphasized the need for stronger academic collaboration and improved numeracy skills across educational levels.

One of the most anticipated presentations was delivered by Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rashid Ab Hamid from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). 

Speaking on ‘Applications of Multiple Intelligences in the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics’, Professor Rashid demonstrated practical teaching strategies based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory. 

His examples included visual-spatial mapping, hands-on manipulatives, contextual storytelling, collaborative problem-solving, and rhythm-based learning activities.

His session received enthusiastic attention from educators and researchers, who praised his ability to translate theory into adaptable classroom practices that enhance motivation, engagement, and inclusivity in mathematics learning.

The summit also featured an impressive roster of distinguished professors from various institutions. 

Presenters included Professor Dr. Drs. Sudradjat (Universitas Padjadjaran), Professor Ismail Mohd (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu), Professor Drs Mustopa (Universitas Lampung), and Professor Syamsuddin (Universitas Hasanuddin, Makasar), who discussed developments in global optimization, applied statistics, and mathematical modelling.

Afternoon sessions continued with contributions from Professor Emeritus Dr. Shaharir Mohamad Zain (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia), Professor Norasarahaida Saidina Amin (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Professor Norihan Md Arifin (Universiti Putra Malaysia), Professor Jumat Sulaiman (Universiti Malaysia Sabah) and Professor Wamiliana (Universitas Lampung), covering topics ranging from numerical methods and analysis to Islamic mathematical heritage and applied statistics.

Engaging question-and-answer sessions followed each presentation, encouraging scholarly exchange and discussion of real-world challenges in education. 

Student performances throughout the programme added cultural vibrancy before the event concluded at 4.15 pm.

The International Professors Summit 2026 successfully strengthened academic ties between institutions and highlighted new directions in teaching, learning, and research. 

Among the many contributions, Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rashid’s presentation was widely recognized as a key highlight, inspiring future collaborative initiatives and pedagogical innovation in mathematics education.
