UMPSA Automotive and Mechatronic Engineering field recognised with 6-star employer’s top choice

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 April 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) received a six-star recognition in the Talentbank Employer’s Choice Universities 2026 list by the Talentbank Graduate Employability (GE) Index, which was held recently.

UMPSA’s automotive and mechatronic engineering field was recognised with a 6-star employer’s top choice award, reflecting the industry’s level of confidence in the quality of UMPSA graduates.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, the achievement proves the effectiveness of the university’s approach in meeting industry needs and is the result of the collaborative network between the university and industry.

“This recognition further strengthens UMPSA’s position as the top university of choice for local and international students in terms of quality, relevant, and high-impact education,” she said.

“This success will catalyse the university’s continued efforts in expanding global collaborative networks and increasing the impact of research that benefits society and industry.

“The university offers various technical programmes based on engineering and technology that are capable of enriching the country’s advanced Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem,” she said.

Specifically, the automotive and mechatronic engineering field was awarded the Talentbank 6-Star Employer’s Choice, placing the programme among the best in its category based on industry evaluation.

UMPSA adopts a TVET-based learning approach that emphasises the balance between theory and practical application through the implementation of industrial training and work-based learning (WBL).

She further added that this approach ensures students gain real industry experience and develop technical as well as soft skills before graduation.

Present to receive the award was the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Daud.

Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Professor Ir. Dr. Razlan Yusoff; the Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Alumni), Dr. Norhaida Abdul Razak; as well as the representative from the UMPSA Career Centre, Aminatul Nor Mohamed Said.

This recognition also reflects the level of employer confidence in UMPSA graduates, particularly in terms of work readiness, professional competency, workplace performance, and the employers’ tendency to rehire graduates based on previous positive experiences.

Further strengthening this achievement, findings from the Talentbank GE Index show that several UMPSA programmes received high recognition from more than 1,200 employers nationwide.

The Talentbank GE Index is a national benchmark that evaluates the extent to which universities successfully produce graduates who are trusted by industry.

This assessment takes into account employer preference for institutions, graduate hiring rates, and the tendency for repeat hiring based on performance.

The index also receives recognition and support from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), further strengthening its credibility as a key indicator of graduate employability in Malaysia.

UMPSA will continue to strengthen its academic ecosystem, expand industry networks, and empower student development to ensure that its graduates remain relevant, competitive, and ready to face future challenges.

This recognition further reinforces UMPSA’s position as an institution committed to producing competitive graduates while supporting the nation’s economic and technological development.

The ceremony served as a strategic networking platform that brought together industry players and talent stakeholders from global organisations such as Tesla, as well as leading companies in the energy, manufacturing, automotive, and technology sectors, including PETRONAS, Intel, Toyota, Shell, and Telekom Malaysia.

This interaction further strengthens collaboration between the university and industry in shaping more competitive future talent.
