UMPSA strengthens leadership development through 2026 Squadron 183 Continuous Training

PEKAN, 16 July 2026 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) continues its commitment to producing disciplined, principled and patriotic graduates through the opening ceremony of the 2026 Squadron 183 Continuous Training programme at the Padang Kawad, Akademi A.D.A.B, Pekan.

The ceremony was officiated by the Commandant of UMPSA's Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES), Colonel (Honorary) Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias PSSTUDM.

Also present were Deputy Commandant of UMPSA PALAPES Lieutenant Colonel (Honorary) Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed PSSTUDM; Head of Squadron 183 Captain Mohd Rizqin Tuan Ab Aziz RMAF; PSSTUDM volunteer officers; instructors; and cadet officers.

Colonel (Honorary) Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah said the 14 days programme was a compulsory annual training designed to develop and guide Air Force PALAPES cadet officers and PSSTUDM volunteer officers in military knowledge, leadership and training management.

"The programme provides more than an introduction to basic military training. It also covers physical conditioning, leadership, tactics and military theory, helping to develop disciplined and resilient individuals who are always ready to serve the nation.

"Each exercise is more than a programme requirement; it is an opportunity to shape leaders who are principled, courageous and responsible.

"Every challenge encountered will become valuable experience in building the character of our cadet officers," she said.

She urged all cadet officers to embrace the spirit of volunteerism, build mental resilience and strengthen teamwork throughout the programme.

"Self-discipline must be practised in every respect, including punctuality, a smart and properly worn uniform, and respect for senior officers and instructors, because discipline is the foundation of a successful team," she said.

She also thanked the officers, instructors and cadet officers who had given up part of their semester break to make the training possible.

She expressed hope that the 2026 Squadron 183 Continuous Training programme would be conducted smoothly and safely,and would have a meaningful impact in developing high-calibre cadet officers who were capable, respected and always ready to serve their faith, people and nation.

At the ceremony, she formally declared the 2026 Squadron 183 Continuous Training programme open.
