UMPSA Singgah Sahur celebrates orphans and security agencies
KAJANG, 28 March 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) celebrated and delivered donations of necessities and duit raya to 55 orphans, poor and asnaf aged 1 to 6 years old at Pertubuhan Warisan Suci in Kajang.
Pertubuhan Warisan Suci, Kajang is a welfare house that provides shelter to children in need, especially orphans.
During the visit, the Chairman of the organisation, Rosparizal Ahmad was also present to receive donations and food kits from Yayasan UMPSA.
The UMPSA Singgah Sahur Programme also had the opportunity to meet with 27 children at the Muhamad Al-Fateh Orphan/Poor Child Care Centre in Bangi Avenue, Kajang to distribute donations and duit raya.
Chairman of the Care Centre, Mohd. Zaidi Zainal Abidin also delivered a briefing and shared about the operation of the care centre.
The programme also met with frontline security officers at the Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Station (Precinct 7).
Present to receive the meals was the Director of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Putrajaya), Senior Fire Superintendent 1, Ashari Johari.
Meanwhile, at the Putrajaya Contingent Police Headquarters, the Deputy Chief of Putrajaya District Police, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Shamsudin, received the meals for security personnel.
The programme also involved 40 Kilau volunteers consisting of UMPSA management, UMPSA Board of Directors and Yayasan UMPSA Board of Trustees as well as students to selected destinations to celebrate the management of welfare homes and asnaf.
Present at the programme were the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Member of the Board of Trustees, Yayasan UMPSA, Dato’ Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, Datin Nur Sharmila Shaheen and Treasurer, Dato’ Zainuddin Othman.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed and Registrar, Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim.
According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, besides meeting the orphans and frontliners, this programme aimed to share sustenance by delivering sahur meals.
“This programme not only provides an opportunity for UMPSA residents to meet the residents of the welfare house but also fosters gratitude within themselves,” he said.
In addition to strengthening the relationship between agencies in the state, the visit could indirectly express appreciation to officers who serve the country in addition to observing Ramadan.
This Singgah Sahur Programme is implemented every year in Ramadan to bring UMPSA closer to the community in line with the slogan ‘Technology for Society’ and uplift the volunteering agenda among university residents.
The programme, which began at 10:30 p.m., ended at 1:30 a.m.
