60 UMP Kilau volunteers plant 150 trees at Lake Chini
CHINI, 13 July 2023 - A total of 60 volunteers from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Kilau, in collaboration with the State Forestry Department of Pahang, and Next Green Pulp and Papers (NGPP), continue their mission of planting 150 trees for the second series of the 100 Million Trees Planting Campaign in Kampung Gumum, Lake Chini.
The programme is led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Industry and Community Networking Centre (PJIM), Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin.
Also present were the Director of the University-Community Relations Division (PJIM), Zainuddin Mat Husin, and the Director of the University-Industry Relations Division (PJIM), Associate Professor Chin Sim Yee.
Associate Professor Dr. Nurul Hazlina stated that the program, which started at 9.00 am, is highly meaningful, especially in achieving the goal of environmental conservation through tree planting activities.
"This year, UMP targets to plant a total of 1,000 trees in Lake Chini, including various species such as Meranti Temak Nipis, Merawan Siput Jantan, Kasai, and Batai," she said.
"This activity also contributes to the criteria of the UI Green Metric rating and supports the agenda for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030," she added.
She expressed her appreciation for the commitment of all parties involved, especially the UMP Kilau volunteers, the staff of the State Forestry Department of Pahang, and the employees of Next Green Pulp and Papers (NGPP), who have worked together to make this programme a success.
