7,000 students attended UMP's Riang Ria Raya

PAYA BESAR, May 12, 2023 - The Riang Ria Raya event organized by Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA) was a blast with the presence of more than 7,000 students enthralled the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this time.

The event was a collaboration between the Institute of Graduate Studies, Center for International Relations, support departments, UMP subsidiaries, UMP Advanced, UMP Holdings, and strategic partners, Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn. Bhd. (Adabi), and Koperasi UMP.

Attending the ceremony, the Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, and UMP Foundation Board of Trustees member, Dato' Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, Datin Nur Sharmila Shaheen, and Farrah Ain Madzlan.

According to Tan Sri Dato Sri Dr Abdul Aziz, this event is a platform to appreciate the meaning of Syawal, establish spiritual love (mahabbah), and foster brotherhood (ukhuwah) among us.

"In conjunction with celebrating Syawal, it is also a sign of UMP's appreciation and thanks to the students and all its community," he said.

In the meantime, he also conveyed his wish to be able to review the appropriate period of time for students to plan and implement programs to enable them learn to manage as well as increase their confidence and identity as leaders in the future.

Also taking place was the zakat contributions handover for UMP students of Semester II Academic Session 2022/2023 which saw a total of 900 recipients whose applications were approved with a total zakat allocation of RM 434,950.00.

In addition, the university also hopes that this zakat aid can assist students lighten the burden throughout their studies at the university.

Present was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, who also performs the functions of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), the Registrar, Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, and JHEPA General Manager, Haryani Abdullah.
