Appointment of new PGA UMPSA leadership empowers postgraduate students

KUANTAN, 24 March 2025 – A total of 15 postgraduate students of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) have been entrusted as the new leadership of the UMPSA Postgraduate Association (PGA) for the 2025 session during the UMPSA PGA Appointment Letter Handover Ceremony recently.

The ceremony, held at Swiss-Belhotel, Kuantan, was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman.

Also present were the UMPSA Registrar, Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, Dean of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), Professor Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohamad Faizal Che Ku Yahya, as well as the deans of faculties.

In his speech, Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad emphasised the importance of PGA in strengthening the relationship between postgraduate students and the university.

“PGA is not just a leadership platform but also a catalyst for active student engagement in academics, research, and character development.

“This leadership team not only plays a role on campus but also serves as UMPSA ambassadors in the future,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the new PGA leadership would continue to plan high-impact programmes and make full use of UMPSA’s academic ecosystem towards global excellence.

“The university is always committed to providing support to PGA to ensure that the programmes and activities organised bring significant impact to students’ academic and professional development.

“In fact, I also welcome visits from the PGA leadership at any time to discuss any initiatives or challenges faced by the association.

“Student involvement in PGA activities not only enhances personal skills but also shapes a more holistic character, preparing them to face future challenges,” he added.

He also expressed confidence that with this new leadership, PGA would continue to grow and serve as the best platform for developing the potential of postgraduate students.

At the same time, Professor Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohamad Faizal also expressed appreciation to the previous leadership team who had successfully led various initiatives for the wellbeing of the postgraduate community.

“I am very proud of the dedication and efforts of PGA in helping produce more competitive postgraduate students who possess leadership qualities and the ability to make a positive impact on students and society,” he said.

He also called on the new leadership, headed by Ahmad Hafizi Awang as President of PGA UMPSA 2025, to remain committed to advancing the association’s agenda in line with UMPSA’s vision and mission.

PGA is expected to continue playing a role in organising programmes on leadership skill development, research, and community service to enhance the learning experience of postgraduate students.
