'Motor Merdeka Atuk' fosters patriotism and love for the nation

PEKAN, 30 August 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has produced a short drama titled 'Motor Merdeka Atuk' in conjunction with the 67th Independence Day, which will be celebrated on 31 August.

This short drama aims to inspire the spirit of patriotism among UMPSA members and Malaysians. 'Motor Merdeka Atuk' is the creation of Muhammad Aiman Nasriq Mohd Roslan, a student at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE).

The drama features five main characters: Atuk (Grandfather), Angah, Muzaffar, Kimi, and Arvin. Senior Administrative Officer of the UMPSA Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Hazman Abdul, plays the role of Atuk.

The character of Angah is played by Muhammad Amirul Adam Mohd Nazri from the Faculty of Computer Science, while Muhammad Aqil Izzat Azaman from the Faculty of Industrial Management plays Muzaffar.

The character of Kimi is portrayed by Muhammad Danial Hariz Mohd Firdaus from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and Arrvindra a/l Rajendran plays the role of Arvin.

Additionally, Siti Nur Fatimah Mohd Azli from the Faculty of Industrial Management plays the role of the 'mechanic.'

'Motor Merdeka Atuk' tells the story of four UMPSA students who plan to spend their Independence Day holiday focusing on entertainment and fun, despite suggestions for a more patriotic celebration.

On their way to their destination, their car suddenly breaks down in front of a house.

They seek the help of an elderly man, referred to as Atuk, who assists them in finding a mechanic in the area.

While waiting for their car to be repaired, they strike up a conversation and learn about Atuk's life story.

Atuk's words move the group, and although some hesitate due to their plans, they feel compelled to fulfil Atuk's wish.

Atuk's tricycle has been lovingly decorated, bringing back memories of his daughter, who has not visited him in a long time.

The young students ultimately feel content and joyful, having revived Atuk's memories and happiness.

Throughout the drama, conflicts arise as the group navigates the tension between following their own desires and doing what is right to make an elderly man's heart happy.

The short drama 'Motor Merdeka Atuk' will be broadcast on 31 August on the official YouTube platform of UMPSA TV.
