Short drama ‘Teristimewa Raya’ nurtures love and compassion
PEKAN, 4 April 2024 - The Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) short drama titled ‘Teristimewa Raya’ features Ahmad Firdaus Azrul Syam, a student of the Dual Degree of Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering with Honours in collaboration with UMPSA-Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
Ahmad Firdaus plays the role of ‘Amir’ who is troubled when his siblings cannot come home for Aidilfitri with his mother in the village.
Meanwhile, Norliza Osman, who is a UMPSA staff in the Research and Innovation Department, plays the role of ‘Mak Leha’, Amir’s mother.
Mak Leha is a mother who is so eager to celebrate Aidilfiri that she intends to prepare various arrangements and dishes.
However, her dream is fading after receiving a short message from her children who could not return for Aidilfiri.
Her worries are also shared with his son Amir who is studying at UMPSA, causing Amir to be worried about the situation.
The day before Aidilfitri, Amir is surprised by the presence of a team of UMPSA volunteers to help Amir and his mother prepare for Aidilfitri.
One of these students is an international student from Palestine who had been bumped into by Amir when he was about to attend a lecture.
The cast consisting of UMPSA Technology and Engineering students proves that UMPSA students have hidden talents that can be highlighted.
The short drama ‘Teristimewa Raya’ was produced entirely by the Centre for Corporate Communications (PKK) with the help of music arrangers from the UMPSA Centre for Sports and Culture.
The Director of Centre for Corporate Communications, Mimi Rabita Abdul Wahit cum the Producer of the short drama said the Centre fully did the production of this short drama for Corporate Communications and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor in collaboration with several responsibility centres such as the UMPSA Centre for Sports and Culture, Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), Centre for Strategic Academic Collaboration (PKSA) and Centre for Digital Technology.
“The creative combination of staff and students, as well as the high commitment of the production team, managed to produce works on schedule after overcoming several challenges, especially in terms of managing their time and daily tasks.
“Most of the scenes were shot during Ramadan, but it was not an obstacle for the team to produce a short drama ahead of the upcoming Aidilfitri,” she said.
She said this drama also fosters a loving and compassionate nature in every individual regardless of race and skin colour.
“In addition, this drama cultivates a life of mutual respect and help for each other in line with the role of UMPSA Volunteers.
“At the same time, this filming involves the UMPSA environment which also displays the beauty and expertise available at UMPSA,” she said.
She expressed her appreciation for the support of the university, especially the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin who also joined in making this drama.

The short drama has attracted nearly 2,000 views on UMPSA TV YouTube channel so far since it aired on 4 April 2024.
