Solar Installation and UMPSA's Technological expertise help ease the burden on the asnaf family

TUARAN, 1 March 2024 - There is nothing more joyful and comforting than seeing the house where a single mother lives with her five children, two of whom have disabilities, now illuminated for the whole family.

Concerned about the plight of some families in need, the management of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) visited the family home of Affendi Adak, 25, from Kampung Roun in conjunction with the Kembara Prihatin@Negeri di bawah Bayu 2.0 Programme recently in Tuaran.

According to Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, in this programme, the YUMPSA and partners, Samaiden and Mr. Solar, have installed six units of solar panels, 100 meters of DC cable, and four VRLA 12V, 120aH batteries for a project implemented in a technology cluster involving several locations around the village here.

"This project is led by Senior Engineer/Energy Manager at UMPSA, Ts. Haji Mohd Nurul Akla Mohd Azlan, who has expertise in the field of solar energy.

"This solar energy will open the eyes of the villagers to renewable energy, which is growing to provide a clean alternative to conventional energy sources," he said.

This Kembara Prihatin program is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN) in various aspects of human life and the environment by 2030.

These goals include achieving SDGs such as zero poverty, zero hunger, improved education, hygiene and health, as well as climate action.

He, who was present when delivering food kit donations and cash donations to the families here, greatly appreciated the donations received from Samaiden and Mr. Solar for their concern and support for the community of Tuaran, Sabah.

Meanwhile, Affendi Adak said the assistance provided would be utilized to the best of their ability.

Affendi described the presence of UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, at his residence as proof of the university's concern for the fate of the community.

He now lives with his mother, Helen Magindah, 60, after the death of his father, Adak Unggi, 63, several years ago.
 
His siblings, Ardlyn Adak, 33, the eldest sister, and younger brother, Arfizal Adak, 24, are both disabled individuals.

Now, only Affendi and his second sister, Ardla Adak, 30, support the family and help their younger sister, Ardefazira Adak, 19, who is currently attending Form 6 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Nangka.

He always hoped that his younger sister would succeed and be able to change their family's fate.

Residents here also have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the Technology Programme implemented here with solar installations to improve the standard of living of the residents in the villages for daily use.
 
This solar panel donation was also implemented for the lamp and portable charger project, which is used by the community in Batangan village, Balai Raya Kampung Kiwatu/Roun, and also Kampung Serusop Bus Shelter here.
