Sultan Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah graces the Royal Commissioning Ceremony of the 2024 42nd Public University PALAPES Young Officers

TANJUNG MALIM, 21 September 2024 - His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah graced the Royal Commissioning Ceremony of the 42nd Public University Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) recently.

Raja Permaisuri Perak Darul Ridzuan, Tuanku Zara Salim also graced the ceremony.

Also present were Menteri Besar Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad; Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir; Acting Commander of the Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan; Commander of the Air Force, General Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan and Commander of the Western Fleet, Vice Admiral Datuk Shamsuddin Ludin representing the Acting Commander of the Navy.

At the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin, representing the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, commissioned 1,435 PALAPES officers from 20 UA, including 810 Young Officers of the Wataniah Army Regiment (RAW), 350 Young Officers of the Royal Malaysian Navy Voluntary Reserve Force (PSSTLDM) and 275 Young Officers of the Royal Malaysian Air Force Voluntary Reserve Force (PSSTUDM).

The 42nd Royal Commissioning of ROTU UA Cadet Officers is a ceremony held annually and organised by UA throughout Malaysia by rotation.

At this ceremony, 35 officers also received the Best Officer Award - 16 (Land), 11 (Sea) and 8 (Air), presented by Sultan Nazrin.

In addition, this event was also enlivened by the Malaysian Armed Forces Military Asset Exhibition (ATM), Life Efforts Exhibition, War Dog Demonstration and Unarmed Combat Demonstration.

The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin attended the ceremony and also spent time meeting the PALAPES officers from UMPSA.

Also present was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman.

Also present were the Director General of Education of Polytechnics and Community Colleges, Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohd Zahari Ismail; Chairman of the Board of Directors of UPSI, Puan Seri Datuk Rohani Parkash Abdullah; Vice-Chancellor of UPSI, Dato’ Professor Dr. Md.  Amin Md. Taff and Vice-Chancellors of UA.
