UMP establishes Institute of Civilisation and Strategic Studies
KUALA LUMPUR, 4 December 2020 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has established the Institute of Civilisation and Strategic Studies (ITKAS) which will serve as a strategic research centre to support the development agenda and optimise the potential in various aspects, especially in Pahang.
For this purpose, a series of discussions have begun, and the university will develop the institute’s strategic plan soon.
A sovereign nation certainly has a great history.
Therefore, as a sovereign nation, we need to know the history and civilisation, appreciate and learn the country’s history as a heritage for future generations.
According to Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz, the institute will also see the development of technology, digitalisation and artificial intelligence which brings new challenges including internet of things and big data analytics as per the Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0).
“This development also includes research in the aspects of civilisation, strategic studies for mapping and development of multidisciplinary technology hubs around Pekan and Paya Besar, in line with UMP’s location in the corridor of knowledge development centre in Pahang,” he said in a special meeting with UMP lecturers at his office in Kuala Lumpur recently.
He also conveyed his aspirations about the establishment of ITKAS as an institute responsible for scouting development potential for the welfare of the people in this country under the auspices of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Present in the discussion were UMP Registrar, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ridzuan Darun with a lecturer from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain and Professor Dr. Badaruddin Mohamad and Shahrill Sabarudin from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
Also present were Associate Professor Dato’ Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi Hashim@Wan Husain and Dr. Suhaidah Hussain from the Faculty of Industrial Management, UMP.
