UMP receives visit from Higher Education DG

PAYA BESAR, 24 February 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) received a visit from the Director General of Higher Education, Professor Dato’ Dr. Husaini Omar and a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education at UMP Gambang Campus recently.

Also present in the delegation were the Director of the Private Standards Division of MoHE, Dr. Wan Baharudin Wan Mahmood, Director, Enforcement and Inspectorate Division, Mat Hassan Ibrahim and Director, Holistic Student Division, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Suzeren Md Jamil.

Also present were the Director of Industry and Community Collaboration Division, Dato’ Mohd Sharil Abdullah, Director of IPTA Governance Division, Ahmad Rizal Adnan and Director of Education Malaysia Division, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Azmir Mohd Nizah.

The delegation arrived at 8:15 am and was greeted by Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin who performs the functions of the UMP Vice-Chancellor and UMP top management.

During the nearly two-hour visit, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin presented on the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 and discussed the Education Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Meanwhile in the speech of Professor Dato’ Dr. Husaini Omar, he hoped that the UMP Strategic Plan would achieve the goals and direction of UMP as a TVET-focused university.

According to him, UMP should be committed and respond to the challenges by commercialising technology research products that impact the community and thus provide good returns to the university.

“UMP is also urged to coordinate and strengthen the governance of TVET with all four universities under the Malaysian Network of Technical Universities (MTUN) in line with the intentions of the Minister of Higher Education,” he said.

He also suggested that the UMP Strategic Plan be guided by the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education).

At the same time, he also handed over donations to UMP.
