UMPSA and PDRM strengthen strategic collaboration

KUANTAN, 2 January 2025 – The Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) witnessed a historic event that reinforced the strategic collaboration between the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).

The event reflects the commitment of both parties to enhancing security, human capital development, and leadership among the younger generation.

According to Professor Ts. Dr Aida Mustapha, who is performing the duties of UMPSA’s Vice-Chancellor, the university extends its gratitude to PDRM for the invitation to this significant event.

“The collaboration between UMPSA and PDRM, which began in 2009, has yielded remarkable achievements, with 660 students from the SUKSIS Corps commissioned as Inspectors to date.

“UMPSA takes great pride in this success and hopes this strategic relationship will continue to be strengthened through high-impact initiatives,” she said.

Professor Ts. Dr Aida also proposed several measures to expand the collaboration, including enhancing practical training for SUKSIS Corps cadets, improving campus security programmes, and establishing a Leadership Safety Icon inspired by PDRM.

Meanwhile, the Pahang Police Chief, YDH Dato’ Sri Yahaya Othman, in his speech, recognised UMPSA’s efforts in producing graduates with high discipline and a patriotic spirit.

He also praised the role of the SUKSIS Corps as a platform integrating elements of security and leadership development among students.

He stated that this collaboration not only contributes to the development of quality human capital but also strengthens community stability and security as a whole.

Dato’ Sri Yahaya further emphasised the importance of awareness programmes such as road safety campaigns and cybercrime prevention involving the campus community.

The event also included an Honourary Rank Award Ceremony, where the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Centre for Industry and Community Network), Professor Datin Ts. Dr Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim, was conferred the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police for the SUKSIS Corps (ACP/KS) and appointed as the SUKSIS Corps Commandant.

Additionally, the General Manager of JHEPA, Haryani Abdullah, was conferred the rank of Superintendent of Police for the SUKSIS Corps (Supt/KS) and appointed as the Deputy Commandant of the SUKSIS Corps.

This recognition symbolises PDRM’s trust in UMPSA’s significant contributions to shaping students who excel academically and in leadership.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Ts. Dr Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, the Director of A.D.A.B Academy, Associate Professor Dr Mohd Nizam Mohmad Kahar, the Deputy Director of A.D.A.B Academy, Dr Siti Umairah Mokhtar, and Acting Manager of A.D.A.B Academy, Saharudin Ramli.

Other attendees included Dato’ Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali, Senior Assistant Commissioner and Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department in Pahang, Dato’ Mohd Yusri Othman, Senior Assistant Commissioner and Head of the Pahang Criminal Investigation Department, and Dato’ Mohammad Shaharul Md Osman, Senior Assistant Commissioner and Head of the Pahang Special Branch.
