UMPSA enhances campus safety and well-being
GAMBANG, 18 January 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has increased patrols and campus security measures while advising all students to remain vigilant at the Student Residences (RP) and around the campus, particularly at night on both the Pekan and Gambang campuses.
According to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, the university takes the safety and well-being of students on campus seriously.
“UMPSA has taken immediate action with new initiatives to address safety issues at the Student Residences, including placing security guards at the RP 3 Security Post starting 17 January 2025,” she said, commenting on campus safety concerns.
In addition, the Security Division will conduct periodic patrols, particularly in the RP areas, which will be implemented on a scheduled basis.
Furthermore, the university is considering proposals for the installation of CCTV cameras in several identified locations to ensure the safety and well-being of the campus community.
The university advises all students to remain within the RP premises after midnight unless they have obtained permission from the residence principal.
She also reminded that the RP premises are restricted areas; they are exclusively for the residence’s occupants.
The university will take strict action against any student found guilty of any disciplinary offences under the Universities and University Colleges (Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah) Regulations 2024.
UMPSA reminds the entire university community to promptly report any emergencies to the UMPSA Security Division (09-4315005) or the residence fellows at each RP.
