UMPSA Foundation, PUNB, and Maxis Berhad extend help with cooking essentials for off-campus students
PEKAN, 22 March 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Foundation, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), and Maxis Berhad have stepped forward to assist UMPSA students living off-campus with cooking essentials through the Salam Cinta Ramadan Programme.
The donation was presented by UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the UMPSA Foundation, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, in a warm and friendly manner with UMPSA students.
According to him, Yayasan UMPSA requires continuous support from various parties, including individuals, government agencies, public and private organizations, and GLCs such as PUNB and Maxis Berhad, to reach more beneficiaries through its initiatives.
The distribution of the donation covered 40 student rental houses around UMPSA Pekan and Gambang Campuses, which were also distributed in stages by Yayasan UMPSA volunteers.
Also present for the presentation of the Ramadan kits was Pahang State Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation Exco, Yang Berhormat Dato' Mohamad Nizar Dato' Sri Mohamad Najib, and a member of the UMPSA Foundation Board of Trustees, Datin Nur Sharmila Shaheen.
Nurul Ain Nazihah Zuhaimi, one of the recipients of the Ramadan kit, expressed her gratitude for the aid kit in conjunction with the month of Ramadan and the iftar food provided by Yayasan UMPSA, as it eases her financial burden despite being away from her family.
The collaboration between UMPSA, PUNB, and Maxis Berhad was further celebrated with a beautiful Ramadan Iftar Ceremony at the Tun Abdul Razak Chancellery Banquet Hall, UMPSA Pekan.
PUNB also went a step further by donating a total of RM62,500 to the UMPSA zakat fund, which aims to benefit 250 needy students.
The donation to the university was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the PUNB Zakat Committee, Tuan Ahmad Sabri Ismail.
Meanwhile, Maxis Berhad contributed to the Ramadan Iftar at UMPSA to foster the spirit of togetherness and community welfare.
The exchange of letters of intent between UMPSA and Maxis Berhad, represented by the Head of Maxis East Coast Region, Narulhizam Ruslan, marked the first step of a meaningful collaboration to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
Nurul Huda Hassan, one of the students, expressed her gratitude for the zakat donation given by PUNB.
"It really helped me in managing the cost of my studies and allowed me to focus on my academic pursuits without having to worry about financial difficulties."
UMPSA, PUNB, and Maxis Berhad hope that this donation will continue to provide lasting benefits to students in need and bring a positive impact to the education community in Malaysia.
