UMPSA joins Signing Ceremony of Collaboration Note between MINDEF and MOHE

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 December 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) is proud to be part of the signing ceremony of a collaboration note between the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) held at Dewan Perkasa, Wisma Perwira ATM.

This event marked a strategic collaboration effort between two key ministries in developing work-based learning (WBL) programmes, Focused Community Programmes, and Defence Industry Collaborations.

These programmes are designed to enhance the level of education, skills, and employability of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel and the participating civilian community.

The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

The event was further enlivened by the presence of distinguished guests, including Vice-Chancellors of higher education institutions, senior ATM officers, and leaders from the education and defence sectors.

UMPSA was represented by the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr Aida Mustapha, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Lt. Col. Dato’ Professor Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, the Director of the Adab Academy, Associate Professor Dr Mohd Nizam Mohmad Kahar, and the Manager of the Adab Academy, Saharudin Ramli.

According to Professor Ts. Dr Aida Mustapha, UMPSA is committed to supporting this initiative by providing quality education and training opportunities to ATM personnel and the involved civilian community.

This collaboration note also includes a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Yayasan LTAT and the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK), as well as Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

Also held was a ceremony to present UiTM diploma offer letters to selected participants of the WBL programme.

The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a photo session, symbolising the partnership between the two ministries.

UMPSA is honoured to be part of this strategic effort, which aligns with the university’s goal to contribute to the nation’s human capital development.
