UMPSA launches University-Level Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Awareness Programme 2024
PEKAN, 22 November 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) launched the University-Level Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Awareness Programme for 2024 at the UMPSA Library Auditorium, Pekan.
The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Professor Datin Ts. Dr Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of the Centre for Industrial and Network Linkages (PJIM), representing the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr Aida Mustapha.
According to Professor Datin Ts. Dr Mimi Sakinah, the programme has several specific objectives designed to make a significant impact on participants.
“With the rapid development of AI technology, we must remain informed and prepared to harness its potential in our daily lives ethically and with full integrity.
“The implementation of this programme aligns with UMPSA’s current initiative to become a smart campus and reflects the government’s efforts to strengthen the digital government agenda in the country.
“This programme also aims to foster collaboration and strengthen networks, particularly between industry and academia, ensuring we keep pace with technological advancements,” she said.
She added that the initiative supports national development efforts, particularly in building human capital.
“Through activities such as exhibitions, competitions, and workshops, this programme is also intended to ignite interest and enthusiasm for technology and innovation among participants, including school students, higher education institutions, and UMPSA members,” she said.
The event also featured a knowledge-sharing session led by Ts. Aziman Abdullah, a lecturer from the Faculty of Computing (FK), and Khairoul Nazim, Managing Director of Kanaz Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
Among the activities organised during the UMPSA 2024 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Awareness Programme were the AI Mini Carnival FTKA ’24, UMPSA STEMbot Carnival AI WEEK 2024, International Computing Innovation Expo Competition (Ice-Cinno 2024), Workshop on Ethics and Basic Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Humanities and Social Sciences Research, and the AI Creativity Competition 2024: Art in the Era of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).
