UMPSA ranked 166th in THE Asia University Ranking 2024

PEKAN, 1 May 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has secured a prestigious position among the world's top universities, ranking 166th in Asia according to the Times Higher Education Asia University Ranking (THE Asia WUR) announced recently.

THE Asia WUR evaluates universities based on research quality, research environment, teaching, industry engagement, and internationalization.

According to Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, UMPSA is also recognized among the best universities in Malaysia for its research quality and internationalization efforts.

"The THE Asia WUR assessment includes 739 universities from around the world. UMPSA’s ranking has improved significantly from the 201-250 bracket in last year's assessment," he noted.

"This achievement places UMPSA at the forefront of the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN) and ranks it eighth among the 23 universities in Malaysia.

"The university extends its congratulations to all UMPSA members for their commitment to innovation and excellence in research, strategic industry collaborations, and the internationalization of academic programs through alliances at various levels both domestically and internationally," he said.

UMPSA ranked 166th in THE Asia University Ranking 2024

Professor Yuserrie emphasized UMPSA's dedication to innovation and uniqueness in offering academic programmes through international strategic alliances.

"UMPSA offers a variety of technical programs focused on Engineering and Technology, as well as high-level Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) study programmes.

"Moreover, our engineering programmes, which incorporate world-class models such as the collaboration with Germany's Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), serve as benchmarks for universities in Malaysia.

"The dual degree programme has now expanded to include partnerships in China and Kazakhstan, with future collaborations planned with institutions in Korea and Japan," he said.
