UMPSA receives visit from MOHE Deputy Secretary-General to review Pekan Campus Development Project

PEKAN, 26 January 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) received a visit from the Deputy Secretary-General (Management and Development), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, and a MOHE delegation to review development projects at the UMPSA Pekan campus.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, who was present to welcome the delegation, the visit aimed to review development projects under the First Rolling Plan (RP1), Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMKe-13).

The MOHE delegation was taken to visit related project sites and the surrounding campus area using UMPSA’s electric buggy.

Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah said that the visit provided the university with the opportunity to report on development phases, share challenges faced, and outline future development planning.

Also present were the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Dr. Mahadzir Ishak, and the Director of the Centre for Development and Property Management (PPPH), Izwan Ismail, as well as UMPSA officers.

The MOHE delegation also had the opportunity to visit the floating solar installation at the university lake, which is equipped with a 159 kWp solar panel floating system on Tasik UMPSA Pekan, representing one of UMPSA’s research initiatives in ecosystem, safety, power generation, and related aspects.

This lake-based solar system is the first floating solar project in the state of Pahang Darul Makmur, and UMPSA is also the first public university (UA) in Malaysia to install a solar system on a lake surface.
