UMPSA-SMK Kuala Krau collaboration expands opportunities for inclusive students
KUALA KRAU, 11 October 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has established a close collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kuala Krau, Temerloh, to benefit students by providing opportunities for further studies, STEM learning, innovation, and community development, as well as enhancing the professional development of teachers and implementation group (AKP) members.
UMPSA is committed to supporting the community and sharing its expertise and technology through the university's experts.
This collaboration will provide SMK Kuala Krau students with the opportunity to participate in UMPSA programmes.
UMPSA will also assist SMK Kuala Krau in developing STEM, innovation, and community projects; conduct joint activities to create pathways for students to continue their education at UMPSA; enhance the professional development of teachers and supporting staffs; and support SMK Kuala Krau in activities related to student development programmes.
UMPSA and SMK Kuala Krau will also collaborate on initiatives aimed at supporting the progress of Orang Asli (OA) and students with special educational needs.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, this collaboration aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies.
"This reflects our commitment to promoting inclusive education, particularly for Orang Asli students and students with special educational needs," he said.
"SMK Kuala Krau has produced many successful alumni, including members of the orang asli who have excelled in entrepreneurship and education at the national level.
"This demonstrates that with the right education, there are no limits to achieving success," he added.
The ceremony was marked by UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, signing a letter of intent for cooperation with the Principal of SMK Kuala Krau, Hamdan Ramli, witnessed by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Linkages), Professor Datin Ts. Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim, and Senior Assistant Teacher at SMK Kuala Krau, Nor Haniza Abdul Hamid.
Also present were Deputy Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) at the Centre for Modern Languages (PBM), Associate Professor Dr. Hafizoah Kassim, and Director of the UMPSA Disability Services Unit and Chairman of PPDK DAMAi, Dr. Munira Abdul Razak.
